Fortezza De' Cortesi

Fortezza De' Cortesi is a 10th-century castle with a hilltop location overlooking the Tuscan countryside. The spacious and air-conditioned rooms have an elegant country style with antique furniture. The villa is set in a terraced garden where you will find an outdoor pool sun loungers and a gazebo. Surrounding the property there is an ancient woodland with numerous hiking trails while inside you can relax in the cosy lounge with fireplace. Rooms are equipped with a fridge and an electric kettle and feature designer fabrics and original paintings. They all overlook the towers of San Gimignano. Breakfast is served daily and includes a selection of homemade cakes and Tuscan products. Dinners can be organised only upon request. De' Cortesi is on the medieval pilgrim path of Via Francigena. It is set inside a sustainable farm that sells saffron and extra virgin olive oil and organises cookery classes on request. It is well located for exploring Tuscany's medieval towns including San Gimignano 6 km away and Volterra just a 40-minute drive away.
